Diversified Communications Announced New Leadership for US Operating Division to Support Growth

PORTLAND, Maine – Diversified Communications announced today the promotion of Liz Plizga to President and Joann Leonard to Senior Vice President, Business Operations of the Diversified Communications US Division.

“Thanks to our ongoing leadership training, succession planning, and the proven talent and expertise of both Liz and Joann, I had the great pleasure of offering them the helm of our US division with the full support of our Board of Directors,” said Ted Wirth, President, and CEO of Diversified Communications. “The corporate team and I are looking forward to collaborating with them as they form their bold vision for the future of Diversified Communications USA.”

This news follows two recent promotions due to the strong growth of the US division. As of March 1, Wes Doane and Wynter Courmont joined the VP team as Vice President Clean Energy and Vice President Seafood.

Plizga joined Diversified as an Operations Manager in 2002. With her previous expertise in event planning and logistics combined with a passion for the industries served, she took on Director roles overseeing trade events and digital media. After four years of successfully leading and growing Diversified’s global seafood portfolio, Plizga was promoted to Vice President of Events and Media in 2015.

“I’m grateful to be working with such a talented and dedicated VP Team, whom I know well and have worked with for years,” said Plizga. “Together, we are prepared to lead Diversified and increase opportunities for the business communities we serve for the benefit of every customer, partner, employee, and shareholder.”

In her new role as President, Plizga will focus on strategic initiatives and the division’s diverse product portfolio of events, conferences, digital products, and publications, while Leonard will handle the day-to-day business operations to ensure the central service teams are nimble, integrated, and properly resourced.

Leonard’s impressive 26-year career in tradeshow operations started at the coordinator level and led to eight years as Vice President of Operations, Customer Service & Registration where she expertly built, managed, and directed three central service departments while Diversified’s US trade show and conference portfolios grew to include over 20 events annually.

“I’m so pleased to be able to continue to work closely with our long-standing VP team in this new capacity,” said Leonard. “Together we are forming a bold, core values-driven vision while ensuring corporate support and the vital resources to achieve our goals.”
