Diversified’s Annual Day of Caring: Giving Back to our Community

Every year, Diversified sets aside a day to step away from desks and show up for the communities where its employees live and work. This year’s Day of Caring took place on Thursday, May 21st, with volunteers spreading out across Greater Portland to serve five local organizations: the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, Fort Williams Park, Maine Needs, Friends of Casco Bay, and Cultivating Community. From painting and repairs at the animal shelter to weeding garden beds, clearing invasive plants, and picking up trash along the waterfront, teams rolled up their sleeves and got to work on projects that made a tangible difference in a single afternoon.

The Day of Caring reflects one of Diversified’s Cornerstone values: Strengthening our Communities. Diversified employees are genuinely passionate about giving back, and there’s something uniquely rewarding about showing up in person and doing the work alongside the organizations driving real change at the grassroots level. The event is one of the highlights of the year, and the energy volunteers bring to each project reflects just how much this day means to the people who participate.

The relationships Diversified builds with these organizations extend well beyond a single afternoon of service. Over the years, the company has returned to many of the same groups and found new ways to support them, whether through donation programs, lunch-and-learn visits, or broader corporate partnerships. Diversified also offers employees up to 20 hours of annual paid volunteer time, making it easy to stay connected to the causes that matter most throughout the year.
