Celebrating 75 Years at Diversified’s Annual Town Meeting

On September 26, 2024, Diversified’s US division gathered on Peaks Island in Maine for a very special Annual Town Meeting. This year’s event marked our 75th Anniversary, bringing together local and remote staff from across the country to celebrate our history, connect with colleagues, and look forward to an exciting future.

The day began with a welcome from Ted Wirth, our CEO, who shared a brief history of Diversified. From our beginnings as a traditional broadcast media company to our current role as a global events and digital media organization, he highlighted the journey of growth and transformation that defines us. Ted’s remarks underscored our long-standing commitment to connecting people and fostering community—values that remain central to our identity.

Following Ted’s opening remarks, our Global Leadership Team introduced the updated values statement, now known as the Diversified Cornerstones. These values capture our dedication to fostering an inclusive, forward-thinking environment and honor the guiding principles that have supported Diversified for 75 years.

In a special moment, staff were excited to watch a congratulatory video from Maine Governor Janet Mills, who celebrated Diversified’s 75 years of business in Maine. The connection to Maine is significant for us, as Diversified was initially founded in 1949 by former Maine Governor Horace Hildreth. Governor Mills’ message was a meaningful tribute to our Maine roots and lasting impact.

Next, Liz Plizga, President of Diversified USA, shared an update on our 2025 strategic goals. Liz spoke to the new initiatives and ambitions that will drive our organization forward in the coming year, offering an inspiring look at our future as we build on the momentum of our 75th year.

Janice Rogers, Corporate VP of Human Resources and ESG, then took the stage to recap Diversified’s global initiatives around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Sustainability. These efforts are vital to building a more inclusive and environmentally responsible organization, and Janice’s update reminded us all of the impact we’re making on the industries and communities we serve.

Dan DiLorenzo, Director of Digital Marketing, officially rolled out our new brand. With refreshed colors, a modern logo, and a message of evolution, this brand update captures who we are today and where we’re headed. Dan’s presentation showcased the thoughtfulness behind the new look, which honors our legacy while embracing a forward-thinking vision.

The meeting concluded with Monica Brooks, our Leadership & Development Trainer, who delivered a talk on embracing change and building resilience. Monica’s insights were a powerful reminder of the importance of adaptability, especially in a rapidly evolving industry like ours.

The day wrapped up with food trucks, fun activities, and time to unwind with colleagues on the beautiful (yet rainy) Peaks Island. Thank you to everyone who attended, and here’s to the future!
