2025 Seafood Expo North America draws an estimated 20,000 attendees

The 2025 edition of Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America (SENA/SPNA), which ran from 16 to 18 March in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., drew an estimated 20,000 seafood industry professionals over the three-day, span, producer Diversified said.

The 43rd edition of the event covered 249,665 net square feet of exhibit space with 1,215 exhibiting companies from 51 countries, Diversified said. The company said SPNA featured a range of service providers, including leading packaging equipment companies, logistics services, and more, while SENA showcased a range of seafood products including fresh, frozen, canned, value-added, and processed.

“This year’s event growth was evident on-site with lots of energy and engagement in both the exhibit hall and the conference area,” Diversified Vice President of Seafood Wynter Courmont said. “Seafood companies, processing equipment, packaging, and services companies and buyers all welcomed the opportunity to meet face to face and learn about new products and innovations, achieve their business goals and discuss their unique challenges and opportunities for growth.”

Several high-volume seafood buyers attended the event in 2025, including representatives from Aldi, Amazon Fresh, Costco, Disney, Kroger, Wakefern, Walmart, Whole Foods Market, Publix, Sam’s Club, Shamrock Foods, Sodexo, Sysco, US Foods, and more, Diversified said.

“Having a presence at the event helps us reinforce and establish our brand in the marketplace and connect us with both prospective customers and suppliers,” Aquamar CEO Daryl Gormley said. “To replicate this, I would have to be traveling with my team all over North America and Central America and instead, we have an opportunity over a few days to have a ton of concentrated interactions that create potential value for us.”

Also taking place during the three-day event was the Seafood Excellence Awards, which recognized the best new seafood products in the North American market in the retail and foodservice categories. From 11 finalists, judges selected Icy Waters’ Atlantic Salmon with a Guinness Sweet Honey Mustard Melt & Pank Crumb for “Best New Retail Product” and American Unagi’s Gluten Free Eel Kabayaki Fillet for “Best New Foodservice Product.”

“We entered this kind of at the last minute. We did it for visibility purposes and just being a credible supplier to our customers,” Randy Lavault, a partner at Icy Waters, said. “We are honored. It’s a small company. We’re fortunate to have partners that we trust. I’m honestly lost for words.”

The event also featured a conference program, which included a keynote presentation from Nomi Prins, macro-economist, geopolitical financial expert, and best-selling author, titled “Riding the Waves: Navigating Economic, Energy, and Trade Policies Impacting the Seafood Industry in 2025.” It also featured a number of sessions on policy trends and regulatory issues, AI, labor rights, marine plastics, and more.

The 2026 edition of Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America will take place from 15 to 17 March at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
